Christine Murphy, MA
NLN Director for Public Policy and Advocacy
A senior government relations professional with more than 15 years of experience, Christine Murphy specializes in legislative and grassroots advocacy, issue monitoring, and policy development in the health care arena. Christine joined the National League for Nursing (NLN) in January 2015 as the Director of Public Policy and Advocacy where she is responsible for expanding the League’s public policy and advocacy program. The NLN promotes excellence in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce to advance the health of the nation and the global community. The League represents more than 1,200 nursing schools, 40,000 members, and 26 regional constituent leagues.
Prior to joining the NLN, Christine worked with various organizations on health care policy; legislative and regulatory issues including workforce shortages, provider education, research funding, and cancer policy; and implementation of health care reform. Christine started her career in the government relations departments of the American Cancer Society and the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers, Inc. (now known as the Association of Global Automakers).
Christine currently serves on the Board of Directors for Women in Government Relations. She earned her MA in legislative affairs from the George Washington University and a BA in political science from Lynchburg College.
